Selena's Gomez acting career began when she was in 1st grade, at age 7. She appeared as Gianna on Season 7 of Barney and Friends. Selena Gomez then made guest appearances in "Spy Kids: Game Over" and "Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire".

She was then cast as a guest star (Gwen) in the second season of Disney Channel Original Series, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, in the episode called "A Midsummer's Nightmare". Subsequently, she appeared in the second season of the Disney Channel Original Series, Hannah Montana as Hannah Montana's rival, Mikayla. She had appeared in two episodes, "I Want You to Want Me...To Go to Florida" and "That's What Friends Are For?". She also took part as the lead character in another pilot, What's Stevie Thinking?, a spin-off of the Disney Channel Original Series, Lizzie McGuire, but it was not picked up.

In 2008 Selena Gomez was involved in two feature films. The first, was a voice-over of the Mayor's 96 daughters, in the animated film, Horton Hears a Who!. She had shared this role with Samantha Droke. The second was a sequel to A Cinderella Story called Another Cinderella Story. She had played the role of a down on her luck high school dancer, named Mary. That same year, she was cast as Carter, an insecure tomboy in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Princess Protection Program alongside her best friend, Demi Lovato.
Selena Gomez and the Scene is a pop rock band formed in 2009, Dane Forrest with Keyboards, Greg Garman on Drums, Ethan Roberts with Guitar, Joey Clement on Bass and Selena Gomez herself on Vocals. Their debut album was "Kiss and Tell". It was a hit and was certified Gold by RIAA.
